Thought provoking post Adam. One thing I’d like to bring up is the stigma associated with and flat out grief that people give others for not “following” more people on twitter or for following only a fraction of the people who follow them. I personally feel that everyone has the right to tailor their network in a way that works for them, even though I nearly bought into that mindset given that it is so pervasive. I also feel that you may not have as many active participants in that huge network of “followers” as you may think. The one-size-fits all attitude about how various platforms “should” work is a real disservice and I hope that people feel empowered to do their own thing, their own way because that is how you will get the results you’re looking for and build a great network.
